Shine, Jesus, shine!
Fill this land with the Father's glory.
Blaze, Spirit, blaze!
Set our hearts on fire.

Flow, river, flow!
Flood the nations with grace and mercy.
Send forth Your word, Lord,
And let there be light!

Happy Easter, everyone! Especially to the newly Baptized and Confirmandi of the JMU Catholic Campus Ministry Community.

And behold, the veil of the sanctuary was torn in two from top to bottom. The earth quaked, rocks were split, tombs were opened, and the bodies of many saints who had fallen asleep were raised. And coming forth from their tombs after his resurrection, they entered the holy city and appeared to many. The centurion and the men with him who were keeping watch over Jesus feared greatly when they saw the earthquake and all that was happening, and they said, "Truly, this was the Son of God!"

Today is also known as Spy Wednesday, remembering the turning of
Jesus by Judas Iscariot for thirty silver pieces. The day acquired this
name because of the Gospel that is read. It tells of Judas' decision to
betray Jesus and the conversation between the two at the Last
Supper.

Oh Danny boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling
From glen to glen, and down the mountain side.
The summer's gone, and all the flowers are dying.
'Tis you, 'tis you must go and I must bide.
But come ye back when summer's in the meadow,
Or when the valley's hushed and white with snow.
'Tis I'll be here in sunshine or in shadow.
Oh Danny boy, oh Danny boy, I love you so.

Happy 80th birthday, Grandpa. I hope they're treating you well up there. Don't forget the bananas :)

To Professor Gregory Ryan Versen:

For 25 years of dedicated service to JMU Social Work.
For countless hours of advocacy in all levels of our community.
For being my personal hero, counselor, teacher, friend, and guide for the past four years, even before I got to college.

Congratulations on your retirement. Know you will be missed.

"With a little love, and some tenderness,
We'll walk upon the water,
We'll rise above this mess.
With a little peace, and some harmony
We'll take the world together
We'll take 'em by the hand.
'Cause I've got a hand for you.
'Cause I wanna run with you.
Yesterday, I saw you standing there,
Your head was down, your eyes were red.
No comb had touched your hair.
I said, get up, and let me see you smile,
We'll take a walk together,
Walk the road awhile.
'Cause I've got a hand for you,
I've got a hand for you,
'Cause I wanna run with you.
Won't you let me run with you?
Hold my hand.
Want you to hold my hand.
Hold my hand.
I'll take you to a place where you can be.
Hold my hand.
Anything you wanna be because
I wanna love you the best that, the best that I can.

See I was wasted, and I was wasting time
'Till I thought about your problems, I thought about your crimes.
Then I stood up, and then I screamed aloud,
I don't wanna be part of your problems
Don't wanna be part of your crowd, no
'Cause I've got a hand for you.
I've got a hand for you.
'Cause I wanna run with you.
Ah, won't you let me run with you?
Hold my hand.
Want you to hold my hand.
Hold my hand.
I'll take you to the promised land.
Hold my hand.
Maybe we can't change the world but
I wanna love you the best that, the best that I can."

Top o' the afternoon to all ye lads and lassies! A happy Saint Paddy's day with many blessings be upon you. Be well always and in all ways.

"When Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure 'tis like the morning spring.
In the lilt of the Irish laughter,
You can hear the angels sing.

When Irish hearts are happy,
All the world seems bright and gay.
And when Irish eyes are smiling,
Sure they'll steal your heart away."

After possibly the worst and most stressful week of my college career, I have learned something. Yes, I learned about Augusta County through my research paper. Yes, I learned that intake duties are not sugar and spice and that CPS workers should get paid 100-fold what they are. Yes, I learned that sometimes doing the right thing can be both the greatest sacrifice and the most wonderful reward. Yes, I learned that unjust decisions are often made against the most qualified people. But this afternoon, I learned that today is the feast day of Saint Louise de Marillac, patron saint of social workers. Today is also the anniversary of my Baptism, my call to serve God. There are some things that are not coincidence. I am going to take the hint. So forget all of you that think I'm not good enough, because I have a job offer from a higher authority.

And then there are those things that happen that completely restore my faith in humanity and life. Good dog, Case. Now stay put this time :)

"I keep on thinkin' I should be free,
This time just leave it alone.
With 17 reasons not to believe,
Nothin' goes, everybody knows, like you always want it to be.

But, here in my heart
There's a dream that's unbroken.
And it gets in my way,
But it won't be denied.
Here in my heart the door is still open,
Waiting for you to walk into my life."

"A dream is a wish your heart makes
When you're fast asleep.
In dreams you will lose your heartaches,
Whatever you wish for, you keep.
Have faith in your dreams and someday,
Your rainbow will come smiling on through.
No matter how your heart is grieving,
If you keep on believing,
The dream that you wish will come true."

Stonegate cable hookup, including three HBO channels: $4.00/month
Week's supply of ice cream chipwiches: $3.95
Bottle of Smirnoff Vodka: $11.19

Having a four-bedroom apartment to myself for spring break where I can sing as loud as I want, walk around naked, and not have to listen to anyone bitch and moan about the mess I'm probably making: Priceless

Yeah. It's party time.

To the academic program this may concern:

I regret to inform you that you have denied yourselves one of the most qualified applicants your school has ever seen. I hope that you will take this opportunity to reconsider your acceptance criteria that you may have better luck in your future endeavors.

Sincerely,
A damn good social worker
